Research Study for Adults Using Weekly Weight-Management Injections Study Information

Research Study for Adults Using Weekly Weight-Management Injections

Study Information:

Weight-management injections can help people lose weight and maintain their results, but they are typically taken once a week. Researchers are now exploring longer-acting options that can be given less often, which may offer a more convenient approach to ongoing weight management.

This clinical research study is looking at whether adults who have successfully lost weight using weekly injections can switch to an investigational product given once a month and maintain the weight they have lost. Participants will either switch to the once-monthly investigational product or continue their current weekly treatment, allowing researchers to compare the two approaches and assess the safety and tolerability of the investigational product.

Key Eligibility Criteria:

  • 18 years or older
  • BMI of 25 kg/m² or above
  • Current use of Wegovy or Mounjaro for weight management
  • Use of Wegovy or Mounjaro has been for at least 6 months, with no dose changes in the last 3 months
  • No diabetes
  • No previous weight-loss surgery

Additional eligibility criteria apply. The study team will discuss these with interested participants during the screening process.

What does study participation look like?

If eligible, participants will be involved in the study for up to 46 weeks. Participants will be randomly assigned either to continue their current weekly injections or to switch to the investigational product given once a month. There is no placebo group.

During the study, participants will attend approximately 12 planned clinic visits where our study team will monitor their health and progress throughout the trial.

Visits may include blood tests, physical examinations, ECGs, blood pressure and pulse checks, weight and waist measurements, health and medication reviews, lifestyle counselling, and pregnancy testing where applicable. Some visits will require fasting beforehand. Clinic visits will last approximately 2-3 hours and will take place Monday to Friday during clinic hours of 9am-5pm.

Eligible participants will receive reimbursement for their time and study-related expenses.
