RSV and hMPV vaccine study

About the Study

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV) are common respiratory viruses that can cause serious illness in older adults, particularly during respiratory virus season. These infections may affect the lungs and airways and can sometimes lead to complications requiring medical care. While vaccines and treatments are available for some respiratory illnesses, researchers are continuing to investigate additional prevention options for older adults.

This study is evaluating an investigational vaccine designed to help protect against RSV and hMPV in adults aged 60 years and older. Researchers are exploring whether this investigational vaccine may help reduce respiratory illness while closely monitoring participant safety and immune response throughout the study.

Who is it for?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are aged 60 years or older
  • Are willing and able to attend 2-5 visits over 12 months
  • Have not previously received an RSV or hMPV vaccine

What does study participation look like?

Researchers will closely monitor participants' health, wellbeing, and safety through regular check-ins and assessments. Study procedures may include physical examinations, vital signs, blood tests, nasal swabs and training, respiratory symptom monitoring, and electronic diary reporting.

Participants will also receive regular weekly follow-up contact regarding respiratory symptoms during the study period. If respiratory symptoms develop, additional assessments such as nasal swab testing may be required.

Clinic visits will take place during business hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. The length of each visit may vary depending on the assessments required at that stage of the study.
